Sharing my friend Alessandro‘s post about the art and poetry event he is hosting. I am super happy and honored to be part of this event and will be sending my poems too as a Verdarti. It is wonderful to virtually present among artists and poets of such caliber,
The event has the theme of nature and the arts. There are paintings, sculptures, art installations, workshops and poetry readings. This is a festival of arts and poetry. It will be held at Villa Dolfin, in Porcia, an ancient villa with a huge park where the poems will be placed inside the park as an installation. The best poems will be read out on Sunday morning… as part of the event FOGLIE DI POESIA.
During the Festival Poet/Artist and friend Rachel Slade will have a personal vernissage (her first big, important personal show). Her work will be on large sheets of paper that will be attached to panels and installed on temporary walls. each sheet cut into the same dimensions but arranged together to form triptychs / diptychs. The work is really a direct response to her time in the US, which has been a strange odyssey in so many ways. According to Rachel,” There is a frailty / immediacy to the paper that I feel captures something fleeting, things below the surface… the intensity of being human, vulnerable… being in that moment where no amount of cleverness can save, you have to go further and deeper, risk your own ego.. because the paper doesn’t give do-overs, you can’t rework everything. You give it all or nothing.” She will display her new works on paper, maybe ink drawings and specific paintings done this year.
My good wishes and heartfelt gratitude to Rachel and Alessandro for giving me this platform.
The summer is still lingering and not really giving way to the monsoon. Hot summer noons are for quick impromptu poems, home-made mango popsicle, some good music and quietly gazing at the shadow pigeons going about their business on my window curtain.
Here are few that I shared on Facebook :
This poem is split in two
a shadow of you
making love is like water,
I like the steam rising
from salt filmed bodies
We live in each other’s minds
and often meet
in the silences between words
Love never dies
it just changes form
And NOW The Good News –
A much awaited feedback on my book and a reading thousands of miles away in the beautiful northern Italian city of Pordenone.
Thank you so much.
Here’s what he had to say,
“I liked the collection; at your best you have a sparseness and precision that reminds me of haiku-forms, and this is rather rare in Indian English poetry, which tends to be verbose and self-indulgent! You often draw upon personal-emotional states: this would usually put me off, but in your case it works because you find a sort of objective mental/imagistic backdrop for them, and invest them with economy of expression. For instance, a short one like this is perfect in its own way, personal but not dripping with self-indulgence because your image makes it larger and more ‘objective’:
On the other hand, in some poems, like the one below, you get too ‘theoretical’, and I think these poems work less for me:
a poetic hybridity of thoughts
I will love to read your next collection.

The Italian Connection
Yesterday Rachel Slade, whose painting graces the cover of my book, informed me that some poems from my Leaky Boot Press book, ‘Collection of Chaos’, will be read in Italian translation by her as part of a Samuele Editore poetry presentation and ‘poetry dinner’ tomorrow night, 27th June, at ‘Al Campanile’ restaurant, a 15th century building in the beautiful northern Italian city of Pordenone.
This is one of the finest news I have heard in long time. Rachael is a very talented artist and it is a joy to collaborate with her. (Rachel’s Website)
Thank you so much Rachael, Samuele and James for helping me realize my dream. Some day I would love to travel to Italy and to this gorgeous place. We will read poems, drink wine, indulge in finest Italian cuisine and soak up the flavors of the beautiful landscape.

The support from my friends, ditors, mentors, experts matters a lot to me. To know there are friends showing love to my writing, it makes me forget the everyday struggles, the frail health and the heartaches. So, for those of you who have my book and are reading it and sending me feedback every now and then, I’m indeed very thankful.
I am super excited, very nervous and giddy with happiness.
It is time to unveil the full cover of my upcoming book of poems ‘Collection of Chaos‘ . The book will be available worldwide from lots of online sellers by the end of this month.
The gorgeous cover art is by a very talented young artist friend Rachel Slade. It is an immense honor to have a her work featured on the cover. The watercolor painting titled ‘sea’ and was painted in 2011. You can visit her website here Rachel Slade Art

I am deeply grateful to my friend and mentor James Goddard of Leaky Boot Press , who is an exceptional writer and an amazing photographer, for providing me a platform to showcase my work and for spending long hours teaching me the nuances of writing and editing. He finally made me break my mental barriers. Well, to a large extent :p .
I will keep all of you posted about the release of the book. There are many many people who made this possible. I will write about them in the coming updates. A big thank you to all of you. I love you all.
