Poetry News – A thing of beauty is a joy forever

Good news has a way to find its path in the middle of all the chaos life throws at you. A few weeks ago two of my poems were published in the fabulous Peacock Journal. Little did I know that one of them will find home in their inaugural print anthology.  When I received Kate’s email informing about the selection I was over the moon. This is big leap for me as a poet/writer.

The Peacock Journal Anthology :Beauty First  has both poetry and fiction by some very talented writers and it is an honour for me to be a part of such prestigious collection.  I thank Bill and Kate Lantry for the opportunity.

This online journal of beauty and art is just an year old and their first anthology published by Little Red Tree Publishing (Michael Linnard) is already flying off the shelves. It was at amazon #1 in Hot New Releases a few days ago.

You can buy this first edition of the anthology from amazon.com  or amazon.in .

Do visit the journal’s website and their FB pages for more beautiful work. You can follow them on twitter too.

Another very exiting news came from The Thumb Print – A  magazine from the East. Poetry editor Ananya. S.Guha informed that my six acrostics got accepted for the February issue of the magazine and were live now. This is my first attempt at acrostics and I am stoked to see the positive response to them.

Thank you editors for including my work in this wonderful magazine.

Here is an excerpt from one of the poems:

“TOPOGRAPHY

That mole in the hollow of your back is a secret place

obscure till my tongue traces your spine’s trajectory

painting an intimate landscape, vast and varied

often the feral scent of sex clings to my skin

growing as you move to uncharted places

reclaiming territories old and new

and spaces filled with the weight of love……Conti. reading

There is a typo in the title of poem 2 and I hope the editors correct it soon.

Some more news is awaited and a few poetry lovers are reading my book. I am nervously waiting for their reviews.

I thank all of you for being so patient with me. I am at a threshold once again and trying to find direction.  Do forgive me for not being so regular in posting here. I will try to do so more often. Till then, go with the flow.

New Poems

September is a bitter-sweet month. It is the birth month of my younger son who completes twenty-one years on this 25th and that makes it very special but on the other hand it has a lot of heartbreak attached to it. Somehow, with each passing year a lot of good things have begun to happen in September.  I will focus on the good especially on the writing front. We lose some we win some. Onward we go.

I have been experimenting with writing poems based on travel memories and readers have encouraged and appreciated my work.

TEKSTO   is  people’s magazine, the elitism of journals is something they are working against. They need work from all you writers out there especially the young upcoming ones. Do check out the magazine’s other content as you read my Two Poems  here. These are memory poems not travel related but close to my heart.

Cafe Dissensus Everyday is the blog of Cafe Dissensus magazine and has fabulous content. I have been associated with the magazine since some time and absolutely love sending my work here. Do read some very fine articles, fiction and poetry among other things once you read my travel memory poems which recently got published. Two Memories

Recently I attended book launch organised by AuthorsPress which is the brainchild of Mr. Sudarshan Kecherry. I was delighted to see that they encourage Hindi Literature along with English and the launch had some fine poetry books to offer in both languages. I bought some and got them autographed too. It was a joy to listen to Dr. Ampat koshy, Dr. Santosh Bakaya, Geetika Kohli and others. The poetry reading was enjoyable. I met some old friends, made some new ones.

I also received very positive feedback from two very good authors on my debut poetry book Collection of chaos. I will share it soon.

Here is a pic from the launch. You can check out their FB page and list of publications.

I am working on a few new writing projects and hopefully share some news soon. Till them keep the love going and do leave your views about my writing.

Thank you to all my readers for being an important part of my creative journey.

Poetry : Drama In The Sky

Picture

Drama In The Sky is the second poem which was published in the Guntur National Poetry Festival Anthology. I wanted to share it once I got the book. It is called “A Posy of Poesy”. The poetry fest was organised by Nagasuseela and Gopichand who also edited the book. The book has some very good poems from poets across the nation. My Blogger friend Nabina Das also has two of her poems in the anthology.
My first poem Detritus is already in the poetry section and here is the link to it .

DRAMA IN THE SKY

A Gloomy day, definite nip in the air

The wind, strong and chilly

Golden yellow leaves of the poplar

Cling desperately to thin haggard branches

The silence is uncanny

Murky mist seeps through

The very core of my being

My thoughts are frozen in time

Memories close in like a blizzard of snow

The drama in the sky unfolds

A flash of lightning marks the brilliant opening

With thunderous applause it begins to pour

The trees, their heads bowed, cry ceaselessly

The wet sun struggles to release itself

From behind the heavy cloud cover

The spell is strong, possessed, I drift into a trance

The sounds of thunder & flashes of lightning cease

The curtain falls

Complete silence follows

Nothing moves, not even a single leaf
