The Last Night Train

They shared a  quick  hug and a parting  kiss

under the dim wintry light

just before the  last night train

pulled out of the wind-swept  platform

and then

in a flash of a moment

the  explosion bathed

the inky Bengal sky in

flaming orange and yellow

time enough to lock

the   agony and fear

on the face of his beloved

in  his eyes
