Tujhi Aathvan : Marathi Poems

  1. Errr… I don’t want to sound like Mr. Thackeray but… How come you’re posting in Marathi? And it would be really nice for your non-Marathi leaders if you could translate the poems… :)

lol Sid I have my roots in maharashtra it is my mom’s mother tongue and I just wanted to try my hand at some poem writing in marathi. No translations here. It ruins the emotions. why not read my Hindi poems for a change :)

  2. Studied Marathi as a child. Enjoyed these without understanding them fully.

    thanks Priti

  3. Can we have a translation please ? If possible.
    Would love to read them:)

alright .will do it my next post .. something to do for me also on this hot afternoon

  4. i understand marathi tikuli! i was born in pune… mahrashtrian at heart :) but see… all your other readers are also echoing the need for a translation… i know translations can never be as good as the original thing since it is the language the poet chose to express himself in… but still…. i feel it is better that people understand something and know what the poet talks abt rather than not understand anything because we had to protect the poet’s feelings in the poem…
anyway, bottomline: your blog, your rules ;)

The traslations will be up in next post for all those who do not understand marathi but I will do them in Hindi or english depending what suits where but it may lose the flavor .. thats closest . Will put a link here too :)

    Readers rule Sid :) ..

  5. OOOO fabulous…this is a fantastic surprise :) being a Maharastrian…your poems really touched a chord with me.

  7. thanks for the consideration towards the readers… but i personally feel that my blog is my space so i have the right to do it my way… reader’s rule when i am doing it for commercial reasons…
pan mala tuzi marathi kavita khoop aavadli :) azoon post karat raha…. marathit! phakt “jai maharashtra” asa ordoo nakos! ;)
btw…. i will be putting up a blog post in a day or two with a strong marathi link so would love it if you could drop by then… will buzz the link…
:) Sid .mi atta marathi madhe lihat nahi .to swapn gela , to prem gela, to mala visarla, mi kavita lihna band kela. :) visit my English and Hindi Poetry. these were old poems

  8. That’s a surprise! I understand Marathi too. Speak and write some, but not poetry. Definitely no poetry. Stopped writing them (in any language) when I was a teenager :)

They are nice and since you have written them, you can do a fairly good job of translating them (as you have done) on ‘public demand.’ good read.
