When I read the ‘Songs of Innocence’ , I wanted more. I got myself a copy of “collective poems of Blake” and fell in love with the simple yet effective word play. here are two of my favorites. Enjoy!!
1.
Never seek to tell thy Love
Never seek to tell thy love,
Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind does move
Silently, invisibly.
I told my love, I told my love,
I told her all my heart;
Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears,
Ah! she doth depart.
Soon as she was gone from me,
A traveler came by,
Silently, invisibly:
He took her with a sigh.
William Blake (1757-1827)
2.
The Wild Flower’s Song
As I wander’d the forest,
The green leaves among,
I heard a Wild Flower
Singing a song.
`I slept in the earth
In the silent night,
I murmur’d my fears
And I felt delight.
`In the morning I went,
As rosy as morn,
To seek for new joy;
But I met with scorn.’
William Blake

I loved the poem. Now, I am planning to read more.
